I'm a sucker for Vampires, always have been. Throw Steampunk in there? Yes please give me, Soulless by Gail Carriger.
GR: First, she has no soul. Second, she's a spinster whose father is both Italian and dead. Third, she was rudely attacked by a vampire, breaking all standards of social etiquette.
Where to go from there? From bad to worse apparently, for Alexia accidentally kills the vampire - and then the appalling Lord Maccon (loud, messy, gorgeous, and werewolf) is sent by Queen Victoria to investigate.
With unexpected vampires appearing and expected vampires disappearing, everyone seems to believe Alexia responsible. Can she figure out what is actually happening to London's high society? Will her soulless ability to negate supernatural powers prove useful or just plain embarrassing? Finally, who is the real enemy, and do they have treacle tart?
Wishlist Wednesday is a book blog hop hosted by Pen to Paper where we share and post about a book that has been on our wishlist for some time, or just added, that we can't wait to get off the wishlist.
I've had these books on my wishlist for ages and I actually have two, but haven't started either yet.
ReplyDeleteHope you get them soon!
One of my very favorite books and series!!! Gail Carriger is an amazing writer, and these books are so much fun -- smart, funny, sexy, and just really, really different. I hope you read this soon!
