Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Pen to Paper where we can share books that are on our wishlist.
I'm pretty sure that I'm the only book blogger left to not have picked up The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare.
GR: Magic is dangerous--but love is more dangerous still. When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos. Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own. Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by--and torn between--two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length...everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world...and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.
I should have read The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan ages ago but I keep forgetting to take it out from the library.
GR:Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school... again. And that's the least of his troubles. Lately, mythological monsters and the gods of Mount Olympus seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. And worse, he's angered a few of them. Zeus' master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect.
Now Percy and his friends have just ten days to find and return Zeus' stolen property and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

Hey Lauren, would love to hear how you like the series! I read the first book, but didn't continue -- will be interested to hear whether you think it's worth going back to.
ReplyDeleteI love your new header, girls!
ReplyDeleteI love Infernal Devices way better than Mortal Instruments because Tessa isn't as annoying as Clary. And Rick Riordan's books are awesome, I seldom read middle grade books but this series, his Kane Chronicles and the Percy spin-offs are fantastic! I hope you girls get your hands on these soon.
Great books chosen this week. And Lauren I also haven't read the Infernal Devices so don't worry but I do have Clockwork Angel sitting on my bookshelf waiting to be read! I hope you get it soon! I also love Greek Mythology and think Rick Riordan's books look great so will have to check them out :)
