Bout of Books: Day 3

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon
Wow Day 3 already, I really need to get a move on ;) I had to take a large chunk out of reading today for YouTube stuffs, I uploaded a short update on FAFiction (which I'll add to the bottom of this post) and then spent about 5 hours recording for my gaming YouTube channel. I guess today wasn't ever going to turn out well. Tomorrow I don't have anything planned but researching Dadaism and getting my A level results - wish me luck!

Wishlist Wednesdays (11)

Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Pen to Paper where we can share books that are on our wishlist.

Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1)I'm pretty sure that I'm the only book blogger left to not have picked up The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare.
GR: Magic is dangerous--but love is more dangerous still. When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos. Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own. Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by--and torn between--two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length...everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world...and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

I should have read The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan ages ago but I keep forgetting to take it out from the library.
GR:Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school... again. And that's the least of his troubles. Lately, mythological monsters and the gods of Mount Olympus seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. And worse, he's angered a few of them. Zeus' master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect.
Now Percy and his friends have just ten days to find and return Zeus' stolen property and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

Bout of Books: Day 2

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon
I haven't actually started reading yet and its 2pm, I know terrible but I have only been awake for two hours, I don't know how I sleep so much. On the plus side I've stopped by at least 30 blogs wishing you all luck and congratulating you on your progress. I'm going to go and finish reading Paper Towns once I've done the challenges for today, hope you have a good day! Okay finished Paper Towns and picked up Troll or Derby which I highly recommend :)

Curiosity Killed The Bookworm would like us to write her a book or blog related limerick:
Heh, which I'm not actually going to do but I hope you all go and take part ;) I'm terrible at limericks and don't even understand how they work! Good luck to all who try.
The Grammarian's Reviews (wow has a lovely layout) wants to know what book we are currently reading and where is it going to relocate?
Well I'm reading Paper Towns which is located in Orlando, Florida and I have almost finished it, at the moment they're taking the road trip to hopefully find Margo but I'm not as optimistic as Q. I guess if I'd relocate it I'd simply shove them all into the prison that Rick and his fellow The Walking Dead cast have just stumbled across at the end of Season 2 or have left behind long ago if you're up to date with the books, the reason I'm relocating the characters there is because its a large area that Margo can get lost in and explore with her black note book whilst the others can play hide and seek with her without having trek across the country to find out whether she's alive or not, oh and I'll keep the Walkers there too so there is some added drama and possibility she could be dead which is how I'm feeling about the book right now.
Last but not least Once Upon A Time would like us to write a piece of fiction about two characters from different worlds interacting;
Again, I'm not technically taking part in this one as I'm not a writer but if I was I'd write a piece about Elena Gilbert and Bella Swan meeting up over coffee to whine and ponder on how-oh-so-tough it is to choose who you love and the stress of having a boyfriend who is vampire. *rolls eyes*

Check back later for my progress & leave links to yours so I can stop by!

Bout of Books: Day 1

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

Oh hello my lovelies. Bout of Books has already turned out to be a life saviour in the reading department for myself and we're not even through the first day yet. I stayed up last night to watch the Olympics closing ceremony which was the first part of the Olympics I even watched, it was pretty good I guess even though I didn't know half of the people performing. Any how I'll be back later to update my total progress but for now I've finished reading Enthralled so I can return it to the library and I've written the review for the last half too, which will be up some time next week and I've made my way through some of Paper Towns which I hope to finish tomorrow.

Auggie Talk wants to know who our literary best friends are and why, what do we do together and talk about?
Wow, I actually found this question difficult and I've had to really delve into past books to re-find my literary best friend, the reason being that lately I haven't been reading all too much and the last few books I've read though I may have enjoyed the characters, I haven't connected with them on such a high level. I finally decided to pick Lola Rose from the same titled book by Jacqueline Wilson, even though the story isn't very fresh in my mind I remember the basics of what it was about - the family wins the lottery and move to London to start over, names and all. Jayni recreates herself as the exotic Lola Rose and I remember at the time I was reading it the idea of escaping and starting fresh seemed like the greatest thing in the world!

Reading in Texas and The Space Between ask "What happens to your books after you've finished reading them?"
I wish I could say something lovely about how I donate them to charity or pass them on to other book lovers but the reality is far more shelfish - yes, they're displayed on shelves in my wardrobe (stops sun damage) in alphabetical order. The few I get from the library are obviously returned and then the books that have made a huge impression on me I lend to my Dad to get his verdict on - and I mean any book that has made an impression, like say when Twilight first came out, I was hooked and passed it on to him and even though he said it was too much of a romance for him he still read the whole series. That's dedication. In short - they're kept and arranged neatly and read again if needed a few years later.
Oh and if you leave links to your Bout of Books updates I'll stop by :)
