14052012: Bout of Books Read-a-thon Day 1

We are drawing to an end of the first 24 hours of the Bout of books read-a-thon challenge, or at least it is for me. At the end of each day I am going to post here what I have managed to accomplish, as its not quite midnight yet I will be popping back later to update - updated now!

Today I was over tired due to lack of sleep so it's been completely my own fault and didn't really feel up to doing, well anything but I chose to pick up Specials by Scott Westerfeld with the knowledge that the previous books in the series were easy reads for me. At the moment I have read for 1 hour and 30 minutes and gotten through 153 pages which I'm pretty happy with.

Overall Update:
Number of Books Read Today: 1 (Specials)
Number of Books Completed: 0
Pages Read Today: 153
Pages Read Overall: 153
Time Read for Today: 1 hour 30 minutes
Time Read for Overall: 1 hour 30 minutes

Also for today we got given a mini-challenge to answer the following questions: "What do you like best about read-a-thons? Do you have any read-a-thon traditions or rituals? If this is your first read-a-thon, what do you like so far?"

Well first of all, this is my first read-a-thon and I chose to get involved because its set when I have no college which meant I wouldn't have to worry about cramming in reading time, but what specifically drew me to this one was because it isn't a challenge per say as you can set your own goals and there is no force to make sure you read a certain amount, reach a certain goal etc etc - in other words its fun and laid back. This pretty much answers the last question! With it being my first read-a-thon I do not yet have any traditions or rituals but from now on I am going to make sure I get a decent amount of sleep before hand so my eyes don't go fuzzy and hope to G-d before then that I have gotten glasses because I was actually in some pain today. Also making sure there is plenty of tea in the house as I love to drink tea whilst I read. I guess a god recomendation tradtion is to turn your bloody laptop off too! haha.

Enjoy your week.

    1. Exactly, if you put way too much pressure on you're just not going to enjoy yourself or the book! which I certainly don't want.

      Thanks for stopping by.

    1. I saw some others setting themselves a challenge to read for a certain amount of time and I was like ...well I wont do that but timing myself may be decent :3

  3. I think I might get depressed if I timed my reading. It will just show how slow I really am. LOL! Good luck and have fun!

  4. This is my first read-a-thon too! I never can seem to clear out the time when one rolls around, so the low-key atmosphere of Bout-of-Books made me decide to try it finally! Good luck with everything! Also, Tea. Tea is necessary. Can I get an IV of it? lol

    1. Exactly and even without me being in college I'm still struggling to put more time in than I would normally.
I would love an IV of tea too!

Good luck on your readathon :)
